Nelly Arrested in Maryland Heights for Alleged Drug Possession

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Acclaimed rapper, actor, and entrepreneur Nelly, known for his chart-topping hits “Country Grammar” and “Hot In Herre,” was arrested early Wednesday morning in Maryland Heights on charges of alleged drug possession.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s arrest report, the 49-year-old, whose real name is Cornell I. Haynes Jr., was taken into custody around 4:45 a.m. Police discovered four ecstasy pills in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop. Additionally, it was found that Nelly was driving without insurance.

Nelly was released from jail a short time after his arrest, pending further investigation.
